Sample Sale Find: For Love and Lemons
I vividly remember my first sample sale. I spent a day roaming around SoHo in Manhattan with my two best friends from high school for my 18th birthday, and we just so happened to walk by a Mara Hoffman sample sale. We walked all around, looked at every single thing on every single rack, and I settled on two items — printed, high-rise, cutout bikini bottoms, and a dress which I was convinced I would wear to my first red carpet event. Since coming to Los Angeles three years ago I have gone to a number of sample sales, but have not yet had a chance to wear that dress on a red carpet. Quality > Quantity
Since returning from Spring Break, I have been in major spring cleaning mode. I have been selling a bunch of my stuff on Poshmark, giving away things I don’t use, and recycling all of the class notes I have saved for years but never actually use. While I love having stuff (especially clothes), it has been quite freeing to not have things busting out of my drawers and piles of papers on my desk. Over the past few weeks I have worked on buying quality clothing, especially when I am not purchasing from a sustainable or ethical company.

On Saturday I had the incredible opportunity to visit Everlane’s interactive exhibit in Los Angles to celebrate the launch of their new underwear collection. My friend Mary and I arrived about twenty minutes before the experience was set to open, and the Everlane team was already out and about handing out goodie bags with pamphlets about their new line and coffee in their own branded cups that said “no frills. no bows. no bullshit”.
