I have been living in my Girlfriend Collective skort lately so when they dropped the Undress a few weeks ago I knew I had to have one. This is the fig color and I could not love it more. I immediately put it on when it arrived at my doorstep and wore it for the rest of the day. It is comfortable, it is versatile, and it’s sustainably and ethically made. I got lots of questions on Instagram so I put together this Girlfriend Collective Undress review with my thoughts about the fit, the fabric, and what I wish was different about it.

Girlfriend Collective Undress Review
First, if you aren’t familiar with Girlfriend Collective, they are one of my favorite sustainable brands. They are size inclusive, approach sustainability holistically, and produce everything thoughtfully. Learn more about them here and here.
The Fit
For size reference – I am about 5’5″ and have a long-ish torso. I have a 25″/26″ waist and I am a 32D/32DD. I always get a small in both bras and leggings from Girlfriend and got the Undress in a size small.
This dress has a full unitard underneath. There are no seams around the waist of the unitard so it is completely smooth underneath the front and back of the dress. On each leg of the shorts there is a small mesh pocket. The pockets are big enough to fit headphones, keys, or anything close to that size. The shorts of the unitard are a few inches shorter than the length of the dress so they do not peek through unless you bend over or purposefully try to show the shorts underneath. There is also a built in shelf bra which I love. As someone with a larger chest I wouldn’t say it is the most supportive in that area. I do believe it will work for low-impact workouts and yoga. It’s about the same support as an un-padded bralette. The straps are also adjustable.
One of you asked if the length is work appropriate and I say yes. As you can see from the photos the length passes the “fingertip test. It is a very casual dress in that it is designed for exercise and/or lounging, so it depends on what the dress code in your office is. As someone who has only ever worked in fashion, this is definitely office appropriate (when styled more like the lower photos).
The Fabric
The material is Girlfriends “FLOAT” fabric. I have only ever gotten items in Girlfriend’s compressive fabric so I was surprised how comfortable, lightweight, and soft this dress was. This dress is not too tight or compressive and is absolutely comfortable enough to wear throughout the day. The material itself is 90% RPET (recycled plastic bottles) and 10% spandex. The materials also has a UPF of 50+, which is great if you plan on wearing this in warmer weather. The dress is not staticy at all (which I was worried about with the softer/more lightweight fabric) and according to Girlfriend it is sweat-wicking!
Undress Cons
One thing I wish was different about this dress is the cut of the neckline. I prefer to have straight thick straps or thick racerback straps on tight tops or bras. This cut is just a bit too narrow for me. It still feels secure with the way it fits but I wish the neckline was a bit wider. I also personally have issues with shorts like this riding up throughout the day. The shorts is a bit longer than the shorts in the skort, but not nearly as long as the regular bike shorts. It is not annoying to the point where I won’t wear it but I wish the inseam of the shorts was just a bit longer.
Overall, though, I just love this dress and know I am going to wear it a ton.
Other Information:
I do not own an Outdoor Voices exercise dress, but from what I can tell from photos the biggest difference seems to be the way the straps are. OV’s dress is a spaghetti strap racer back with a much wider and more traditional cut than Girlfriend’s. OV’s dress also has pockets on the shorts underneath but their straps are not adjustable. Aside from the difference in the straps, the biggest difference is the price point. OV’s dress is $100 and Girlfriend’s dress is $78. Girlfriend’s Undress is also available in XXS-6X whereas OV’s is only available in XXS-XL. Last but not least, Girlfriend has a recycling program where you can send back your items when you are done with them. I love that Girlfriend is working toward circularity with this offering.
