50+ Black-Owned Sustainable Businesses To Support Now & Always

Black-owned sustainable businesses

Recently I shared 31 Black-owned sustainable fashion brands in an Instgram post in an effort to use my platform to amplify Black voices and Black businesses in the sustainability space in support of the Black Lives Matter movement. To make that resource on Instagram more permanent, I have put together this blog post with those 31 businesses plus all of the Black-owned sustainable businesses I have discovered since then. I will update this post regularly, and all of the fashion-related businesses in this post will be included in my master list of sustainable fashion brands as well.

I encourage you to do more than just follow these brands (and any new black-owned businesses you’ve learned bout over the past few weeks). Long-term economic support is incredibly important. Engage with these brands’ content on social media. Buy their products. Pre-order their products. Share photos of the products when you use them. If you’re an influencer, include these brands in round-up blog posts, YouTube videos, TikToks, and Instagram carousels in the future. Join the 15 Percent Pledge movement, ask your favorite retailers to pledge 15% of their shelf space to black-owned businesses, and advocate for these brands to be included. Take the 15 Percent Pledge yourself and pledge to buy from Black-owned brands 15% of the time.

I am confident that we can all find at least one Black-owned business in this post with products that are similar to what we currently purchase now or would like to purchase in the future. Consider buying from one of these brands the next time you’re in the market for a new sustainable outfit, skincare product, or home decor item.
