I tried a lot of different sustainable brands this year for everything from socks to clothing to shoes. New sustainable clothing and accessories can be an investment so I wanted to share the purchases I loved most from this year! Below you’ll see clothing and accessories from brands like Mate The Label, Girlfriend Collective, Kotn, Genusee, Allbirds and more.

Mate The Label Face Masks
In true 2020 fashion these face masks were one of my favorite purchases of the year. I’ve actually placed 3 orders of these face masks – two for me and one to share with my family. They are double layered organic cotton and are made ethically in Los Angeles. They are comfortable enough to wear all day and fit nice and snug on your face! Shop them here.
Mate The Label Organic Eco Thermal Set
This was my most recent purchase of the year but I can’t stop wearing it. The Eco Thermal is a comfortable organic cotton material, the top is perfectly cropped, and the pants are such a great shape. Mate The Label products are such great quality and I know this set will last me for years. Shop similar styles here.
Mate The Label Socks
After spending so much time at home this year I’ve become a sock aficionado. These socks from Mate The Label are made from US-grown organic cotton that is undyed and unbleached. They are so comfortable for wearing around the house but are also great for pairing with sneakers. Shop them here.
Girlfriend Collective Pocket Leggings
I have been a fan of Girlfriend for quite some time, but these pocket leggings are quite possibly my favorite purchase. These leggings come in multiple lengths but I choose to get the shorter length because I prefer leggings to hit right above my ankles. I love these leggings especially because of the side pockets. Not only is the pocket itself utilitarian, but I love the extra details the seams add. Shop them here. Read more about Girlfriend in this blog post here.
Girlfriend Collective Bike Shorts
I didn’t think I’d be a fan of bike shorts because tight shorts have a tendency to ride up on my legs, but these Girlfriend bike shorts are the perfect length. They are so comfortable and were one of my favorite bottoms this summer. Shop them here.
Girlfriend Collective Socks
Continuing with the sock theme, these ones are from Girlfriend Collective. They are made from recycled plastic bottles and can be recycled through Girlfriend. I have both the quarter crew and crew styles of their socks but I like the quarter crew style best. Shop them here. Read my review of Girlfriend Collective socks and underwear in this blog post here.
Cariuma OCA Low Sneakers
These Cariuma sneakers are the perfect everyday white sneakers. They are thoughtfully made with 100% GOTS certified organic cotton canvas, ethically sourced rubber soles, and even metal aglets instead of plastic. Additionally, Cariuma plants two trees with every purchase. Shop them here. Watch my TikTok about them here.
Allbirds Tree Dashers
I have long been a fan of Allbirds and was so excited to get my first pair of sneakers from them a few weeks ago. These are the Tree Dashers and every part of these shoes are thoughtfully sourced and designed. The midsole is made from SweetFoam™ (the world’s first carbon negative EVA), the upper material is made from Eucalyptus tree fibers, and the insole is made from castor bean oil which emits less carbon than petroleum-based foams. These sneakers also have the carbon footprint (9kgc02e) inside the shoe! Shop them here. Watch my TikTok about Allbirds’ packaging here.
Ocean Plastics Microplastic Initial Necklace
I fell in love with this necklace the moment I saw it on Instagram. It is a handmade, made to order resin initial with microplastics collected from beaches in Florida. I’ve always wanted an initial necklace and love how unique this one is. Ocean Plastics now has an option on their website to send in your own collected microplastics to be made into a piece of jewelry! Shop it here.
Genusee Blue Light Glasses
These blue-light blocking glasses have been great for all of the time I’ve been spending on my computer and phone over the past few months. Genusee is one of my favorite small sustainable businesses; they sell sunglasses and prescription glasses with frames made from recycled plastic bottles in Flint, Michigan. I have had a pair of their sunglasses for a few years and got these blue-light glasses a few weeks ago and am such a fan of this brand. Shop them here.
Boody Chunky Bed Socks
To finish off the sock theme, these last ones are perfect for lounging around the house. These are the Boody Chunky Bed Socks (currently sold out but coming back in stock soon). They are made sustainably and ethically from bamboo rayon and are the coziest chunkiest socks I’ve ever worn. I like to call them the grown up version of fuzzy socks. Shop them here. Read more about Boody in this blog post here.
For Days Tank Top
This tank is from circular brand For Days. Not only do I like the style and fit of this tank, but I love what For Days stands for. As a circular business, For Days accepts old For Days clothing (and other clothing from any brand) and will recycle it through a closed loop system into new For Days clothing. Their items are made with organic cotton and/or recycled cotton. Shop it here. Watch my TikTok about For Days here.
Kotn Essential Crew Tee Shirt
This Essential Crew tee shirt from Kotn is the best fitting tee shirt I have ever worn. It fits my narrow shoulders perfectly, is a great weighted cotton material, and is a perfect length for wearing tucked or un-tucked. This is my first item from Kotn, a sustainable brand that works closely with their cotton farmers and is committed to supply chain transparency, and I’m excited to support them again in the future. Shop it here.
One Response
I have been using your blog as my main reference for sustainable brands and until I saw your blog, I really didn’t know about all the things and resources used for producing EVERYTHING we use today. I loved your mission statement that you see your dollars as a vote. I have been obsessed with seeing what I could swap in my own home when products run out that would be more sustainable and better, overall, for the environment. (And I love that most of the swaps save me money in the long run!) Thank you for informing and I will continue to read your posts. Happy New Year!
