Sustainable Underwear Brands To Try Right Now

Sustainable fashion can be expensive if you are buying new clothing from sustainable brands, which is why I advocate for focusing on investing in sustainably made basics at the beginning of your sustainable fashion journey. Sustainable underwear is a great place to start – it’s a cheaper item compared to a tee shirt or a pair of jeans (even from sustainable brands) and it’s an item you wear every single day.

Here are 9 sustainable underwear brands with products available in sizes XXS-6X and prices starting at $9 per pair.

Girlfriend Collective

Girlfriend Collective’s Everyday Girlfriend collection features underwear and socks made from recycled post-consumer water bottles. The underwear is incredible soft and a very thin no-show material but it doesn’t feel like it’s going to fall apart. It has a great stretch and shows no visible panty lines. The socks only come in one size and are a bit compressive on my small feet, so they likely will not work for everyone. Through Girlfriend’s top drawer discount you get a discount any time you order more than one pair of underwear or socks. Read my full review of Everyday Girlfriend here.

  • Underwear: $18, XXS – 6XL
  • Socks: $14, three size options

Boody

Boody’s underwear, made with FSC and OEKO-TEX certified bamboo viscose, is incredibly soft and stretchy. I love their high rise full briefs (I wear the Nude 0 color like Spanx under see through dresses and white pants) and their shaper bras are very comfortable. The chunky bed socks, which are pictured above, have become my favorite during the pandemic. They are cozy for wearing throughout the day and are long enough that they don’t fall off in the night. Boody also has mens underwear and socks!

  • Bralettes: $20+, XS-3X
