10 Amazing Sustainable Swimwear Brands

This has by far been my most requested blog post / TikTok video / topic in my Instagram DMs. Even some of my friends have texted me asking about this! So in this post I’m sharing 10 sustainable swimwear brands.

I actually don’t own a ton of sustainably-made swimwear. Most of my suits are at least a few years old, meaning they were purchased way earlier in (or even before) my slow fashion journey, but this post contains brands I that I have researched and would purchase from when the time comes to invest in some new swimwear.

Reformation

First up is Reformation swim – I have owned a few swimsuits from Reformation and they have all been great. I didn’t experience any fading from the sun or saltwater and none of them stretched out after years of wear. Reformation has great prints and a variety of styles.

  • Reformation swim is made from ECONYL (recycled nylon made from recovered fishing nets, industrial waste, and fabric scraps)
  • Reformation swim comes in sizes XS – 3X and is priced between $78 and $178.

One last thing I will say about Reformation swim is the sizing can be a bit of a struggle for tops as someone with a smaller band size and larger cup size, so keep that in mind when shopping. I have not had any issues with sizing for the one-piece or bottoms.

SummerSalt Swim

Summersalt designs have a ton of color-blocking and fun prints, and come in a variety of different styles. I have found that most sustainable swimwear brands have few modest options, but Summerslat has lots of mid-rise, high-rise and one-piece styles that aren’t too cheeky or high cut.

    • Summersalt swim is made with recycled polyamide, another word for nylon, and is made from things like recycled fishing nets and manufacturing waste.

    • They have a variety of fits and styles for different torso lengths, bust support needs, and coverage preferences.

    • Summersalt swim comes in sizes 0 – 24 (or XS – 3X) and is priced between $45 and $125.

Londre Bodywear

Londre body wear is brand I’ve seen a ton of on Instagram (including from some of my fav fellow sustainable fashion bloggers like Cat and Sally). Their suits are minimalist and they come in timeless stripes and solids.

  • Londre suits are made from recycled plastic bottles and each suit is made with a minimum of 6 recycled plastic bottles. So far, they’ve taken over 1 million plastic bottles from the beaches and streets to create their swimsuits!
  • Their swimwear is ethically manufactured in Vancouver, BC.
  • Londre swim comes in size XS – 5X and is priced between $89 and $215.

Vitamin A Swim

    • VitaminA swim has a variety of swim materials (EcoTex, EcoLux, EcoRib) which are all made from recycled nylon.

    • 95% of their products and materials are manufactured in Southern California.

    • VitaminA swim comes in sizes XS – XL and 0 – 18 and is priced between $99 and $215.

Mara Hoffman

The first ever sample sale I went to was a Mara Hoffman sample sale. I literally stumbled upon it in high school while shopping in SoHo and walked out with a dress (that I never wore) and reversible high rise bikini bottoms with cutouts on the hips that I loved. Though incredibly expensive, these suits are as high quality as you can get. Mara Hoffman is a designer after all.

  • Mara Hoffman suits are made from REPREVE recycled polyester (mostly from post-consumer plastic bottles) and ECONYL recycled nylon from fishing nets, industrial plastic waste and fabric scraps.
  • All Mara Hoffman swim is made in the US.
  • Mara Hoffman swim comes in sizes XS – 4XL with prices between $170 and $350.

ookioh

The bikini I have from Ookioh is one of my favorites in my swimsuit collection. Ookioh swim is made with recycled nylon and the company plans to completely remove plastic from their footprint over the past two years.

  • Ookioh suits are made with recycled materials that are recovered from the ocean and pre-consumer waste sources.
  • Ookioh swim comes in sizes XS – 4X and prices are between $60 and $125.

Galamaar

Galamaar suits come in the best colors – shades of purple, green, and yellow that I have seen on Pantone paint swatches, but not in swimwear. The literal styles of suits are quite retro, but paired with details like contrast stitching and these unique colors, these suits look updated.

  • Galamaar suits are made from Econyl, recycled nylon made from fishing nets, industrial plastic waste and fabric scraps.
  • All Galamaar swim is made in LA.
  • Galamaar suits come in sizes XS – XL and are priced between $99 and $276.

Natasha tonic

Natasha Tonic has the most environmental initiatives out of any brand on this list. Their swim is made with plant-based materials like hemp and organic cotton, which makes it anti-microbial, UV resistant, and biodegradable. They use a low-impact dyeing technique and make their suits in small batches (and make some to order) to reduce waste.

  • Natasha Tonic swim is made from hemp and certified organic cotton.
  • All Natasha Tonic swim is made in Los Angeles.
  • Natasha tonic swim comes in sizes XS – XXL and is priced from $60 to $200.

OHOY Swim

Next up, Ohoy Swim is the most reasonably priced swimwear brand on this list. Though they don’t have that many styles, the ones they do have are classic: simple one pieces, longline bralette-style bikini tops, and bandeau bikinis.

  • Ohoy Swim is made from Econyl, recycled nylon made from fishing nets, industrial plastic waste and fabric scraps.
  • Ohoy Swim comes in sizes S – XL and is priced between $45 and $125.

Fisch

Last but not least, Fisch swim has the most unique swimwear prints I have ever seen: squiggly lines, seahorses, cheetah print, and blue angelfish print. Their one pieces are also especially fun, featuring hardware, gathered material around the straps, and angular necklines.

  • Fisch styles are made from Econyl, recycled nylon made from fishing nets, industrial plastic waste and fabric scraps.
  • Their swimwear is also UV protective (UPF 50+) and is resistant to chlorine and sunscreen.
  • Fisch swim comes in sizes XS – XL and is priced between $130 and $220.
